The Mandarin Learning Center (MLC) is devoted to the teaching of Mandarin
Chinese as a second language, which is an affiliate of the Chinese Culture University (CCU)--one of the largest universities in Taiwan. Located in the downtown campus, the MLC is easily accessible and excellently equipped: All classrooms are quiet and air-conditioned; students have access to all the facilities of the learning re-sources center including audio and video equipment and computers. Our staffs are enthusiastic and willing to assist students who are far from home. Above all, new terms begin every two weeks, allowing a degree of flexibility in enrollment that no other language institute can match.
PROGRAM DATES AND ACADEMIC INFORMATION:
The MLC offers 15 levels of intensive Chinese study, with each level taking 11weeks to complete. Students are placed into classes at the appropriate levels of study based on their test results on the MLC Placement Exam.

Core
classes, which meet for 2 hours each day of the week, are the foundation of the
MLC program of study. Core courses consist of reading, writing, spoken Chinese,
and structure.

PROGRAMS (COOPERATION PROJECT)
To help international students within the short time to understand Chinese heritage and culture through the learning of Mandarin courses, folk events and cultural courses, we open various Chinese courses. To experience fantastic life in Taiwan, we arrange many field trips to the characteristic scenic spots of cities.

Culture Courses: Chinese yo-yo, calligraphy, Chinese knot, fan painting, cotton paper painting, Chinese chess, etc.

One-day field trip: Yingge pottery and Sanxia culture & heritage, Jiufen advantage, Yangming Mt., Danshui Rier Scenic Area, etc.

CAPACITY OF STUDENTS EACH ACADEMIC YEAR:
No limits, but student has to be over than 18 years old and finished high school education.
EQUIPMENT FOR STUDENTS’ LEARNING CHINESE:
Soundproof and air-conditioned classrooms, language lab, computers, audio and video facilities. On floor B4 we have a Digital Learning Center provides outstanding self- learning environment for all students. Students may study, listen to the audiotapes, surfing on the internet, borrow books or tapes, and send or receive e-mails.
SCHOLARSHIPS:
Full-time students may be eligible for a scholarship granted by the R.O.C. Ministry of Education.
STUDENT DORMITORY OR OFF-CAMPUS HOUSING ASSISTANCE:
The MLC does not provide any dormitory, but updated listings are available in the administration office. Check our bulletin board for more housing information from alumni or students. We cooperate with Charming City Hotels & Serviced Apt, whereby students of the MLC can obtain a 35% discount.
HEALTH
INSURANCE:
Regular students at MLC are eligible to apply for a 3-month medical insurance policy provided by China Life Insurance Corporation, effective at the beginning of each month. To apply, come to the office fill out the application form before the 25th of each month and the fees are NT$1,100 for 3 months. In case of illness, come to the office to pick up a prescription form, and then go to the contracted clinics or hospitals listed on the insurance card, emergency excepted. For each visit, bring one prescription form and student ID, and pay the registration with the medical fees. Post the receipt and prescription form back to China Life Co., you will receive the refund afterwards.
ASSISTANCE PROVIDED TO FOREIGN STUDENTS WHO WISH TO STUDY UNIVERSITY IN TAIWAN:
Free and confidential counseling service provided for students who wish to receive individual instruction and assistance from qualified student advisor, inclusive of information and assistance regarding how to select and apply to colleges and universities.
ADMISSION LETTER RECEIVED:
2 weeks before the starting date is suggested.
