The University and CLTC

The CLTC of Tzu Chi University is founded based on the school founder  Master Cheng Yen’s spirit “Great compassion to strangers and great mercy for all”.

Our aim is to enhance the students’ understanding of the language, the culture of great love and develop the sense of gratitude. Through the learning of the language, people can better understand and respect each other from our Tzu Chi Humanitarianism.

Student’s exchange of language: CLTC will selected volunteer students from Tzu Chi University according to the student’s language ability, professional or career needs, and leisure interests. This will encourage more individualized opportunities to practice Mandarin outside the classroom.

Hualien, Taiwan

Hualien is a beautiful place in Taiwan for its well-preserved environment, free from polluted air, urban sprawl and stunning view of the Pacific. Only 35 minutes flight from Taipei and 3 hours rail from Taipei to Hualien. It takes 30 minutes drive to visit the Island’s world-famous scenic spot of Taroko National Park in Hualien. Also, there are some finest hot springs, idyllic mountain trails and Eastern of Taiwan’s most pristine beaches. For water spots, such as swimming, boating, scuba diving and snorkeling are convenient.

Getting Around

In Hualien, public transportation is not very convenient. Bus times are not very frequent, average around one bus every half an hour to one hour. Hualien is a fairly small city. Students at CLTC agree that most necessities can be found within a 10 minute walking distance. Therefore, not having a car or motorcycle is not a big issue. As we recommend, using a bicycle for transportation is an option to consider. Bicycle are simple to buy and have many types to choose from prices, it cost from 1,500 TWD.
